The structure of differential interference microscope

Pulished on Jul. 12, 2024

The differential interference microscope consists of the following parts:

1. Light Source

The light source of differential interference microscopy generally uses a white light of uniform intensity. The light source should be stable to ensure the accuracy of the experimental results.

2. Lens system

The lens system is used to focus the light and adjust the projection ratio of the sample plane to the objective lens to obtain a sharp image.

3. Polarization element

Adding an appropriate polarization element to the path of the sample light can increase the contrast and clarity of the image.

4. Beam splitter

The beam splitter is a key component of the differential interference microscope, which divides the incident beam into two coherent light paths. In a typical differential interference microscope, a beam splitter is usually used.

5, optical path adjustment components

The optical path adjustment unit is used to adjust the phase difference between the two optical paths to achieve the interference of the image.
